About Me

Cookie ChickOne of my passions is cooking. I find it creative and nurturing. I still consider myself a beginner as I didn’t grow up doing much cooking that didn’t come out of a box or can. I especially love to bake as I have a terrible sweet tooth. Luckily my co-workers are happy to consume the extras.

I find it satisfying to eat real food I haveĀ  prepared myself. At least I know what is going into it. I find that using top quality ingredients, organic when I can, is key to making things that taste great.

The name Cookie Chick comes from a Carvel Ice Cream commercial from the 80′s. I always thought it was funny. Oddly enough, I don’t think I ever had Carvel Ice Cream.

As a side note, I’m a vegetarian, of the LOVe variety (Lacto-Ovo Vegetarian), which means I don’t eat animals but I do eat dairy and eggs.

Update: December 2009
Lately, we have been leaning towards a more vegan diet. I’m not ready to give up cheese and butter completely, but make it more of a treat. It’s a personal choice, but one that makes me happy. My cholesterol levels like it, too.

Update: February 2012
It’s official. We’re vegan. So, recipes on this site will now be vegan versions.
